#Grattitude – Week of Aug 30th, 2019

Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:

1. this week’s self-care ritual-


I took the time to give myself an at-home manicure. This is a big deal for me because when I do my own nails, I usually apply 2 coats of polish + top coat because I want it to be quick and over with.

Yesterday, I prepped a hand oil to massage and push back my cuticles with, a pushy and nail cleaner, and one of those four-sided buffing blocks (I don’t recommend this particular one, but it’s the one I have). I turned on a show I like, and I took my time.

A blog post I reference once in a while is this one titled How to Give Yourself an At-Home Manicure by Jess Hannah (she makes some of my favorite nail polishes). It’s going to take a lot of practice for the nails on my right hand to look somewhat professionally done, but I’m open to making this a regular self-care hobby of mine.

2. “candy” I’m into-


Sometimes I just want to eat candy, but I don’t want the sugar in my body. I randomly picked up the watermelon Ice Breakers Duo while getting groceries, and I’ve been eating a few everyday for 2+ weeks now. They’re yummy!

Fruity with a slight touch of mint. The watermelon ones have been a gateway drug for me.. I ended up buying the grape ones (also good!), the strawberry ones (meh.. it tastes a little too artificial), and the sours (I have to be in a certain type of mood for these).

If you have any sugar free candy recommendations, please send them my way. 🙂

3. flirting with Brandon-


I wasn’t sure if I was going to write about this in an email, but it’s been such a highlight of mine that I couldn’t NOT share it with you.

Brandon and I have been joking around with each other so much recently.. calling each other nicknames like Fart Muncher and niMrOd, teasing each other (where it doesn’t end with me being really annoyed, lol), and just enjoying each other’s company. I’ve been wondering what’s brought this on, and I think a large part of it has to do with the time we spend away from each other.

Brandon has a new office setup outside of our home where he’s been spending most of his time.  I have my new beautiful desk and work space in a corner of our bedroom. And while there are plenty of things we still do together, it’s been really great for our relationship to be working on different things.

Work wise, I’m still coaching, and so is he.. and there are some other cool things in the works for Above the Waves. And on top of that, I’m continuing to uncover parts of myself through yoga and meditation, which I look forward to each and every time.

Brandon has started to play beach volleyball again after recovering from an injury. I love that we each have something we enjoy deeply (and separately, haha) and I get so excited when hearing the sound of his keys open the front door.

4. another joyful period thanx to Thinx-


This week I couldn’t be bothered with using a menstrual cup, so I’ve been appreciating the crap out of all of my pairs of Thinx period underwear – the organic cotton briefs are the only ones I own from them.

I know I’ve talked about these for years, but I still love them as much as I did the first time I slipped on a pair. They’re so comfortable and they don’t make me hate my time of the month.

FYI, I’ve heard from friends who have tried them based on my recommendation and have experienced leaking.. so if you’re someone who tends to have relatively heavy periods, these may not be ideal for you (unless maybe you wear them as a backup to a menstrual cup or tampon).

I did just check the website and it says you can try them for 60 days and if they don’t work for you, they’ll refund you, no questions asked ????????.  

5. a video that made me go ????-


Brandon shared a video with me on oral posture, and how it could determine the attractiveness of a face. So fascinating!

I’ll be keeping my tongue pressed to the roof of my mouth, now until forever.
