#Grattitude – Week of Feb 7th, 2020

Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:

1. lip saviors-

For the past month or so, my lips have been drier than usual, and the skin right around my mouth feels like I have eczema. My beloved Osmia Lip Doctor wasn’t even working, which has never happened before.

I tried a few other options with little luck and the only products that provided relief are the ones pictured above. Aquaphor’s been my go-to first thing in the morning, and right before bed. And during the day when I want that Aquaphor-level coverage with the slightest tint of color, Glossier’s balm dotcom has been pulling through so well for me. I like the tint of the cherry balm dotcom more, but berry smells more appealing (like Hi-Chews!).

2. Wednesday night sunset-

Last week we met up with some friends to watch the sunset. It happened at a time when I really needed to get out of the house, and it provided the comfort I was looking for.

Took down several Notes to Self, including “Wow, you live here! Do more of this! All of this is available to you in your neighborhood. Here’s your reminder that you’re living your dream.”

As I was scrolling through my phone’s photo album, it got me thinking about writing this email and asking you, what’s something that’s always available to you that makes you feel just a bit more alive? When was the last time you took part in that? Comment below!

3. favorite meal this week-

Brandon and I went to lunch with our friend Nick at a new-to-me Mexican restaurant nearby, and I asked him (Nick) to order me his favorites because I wanted the full experience.

I had a fish taco which was okay, but what I REALLY enjoyed was this tostada! I don’t know if I’ve ever had a tostada before in my life. It was so good that I thought about it all day, and I asked Brandon if we could go back and get some more the next day ???? We each got two, and my favorite is the asada tostada.

4. Aja Dang’s debt free scream vlog-

As I’ve shared in a past newsletter, I’ve been following Aja Dang’s journey to becoming debt free since December 2017.

In a Vlogmas episode 2 years ago, she shared publicly on her YouTube channel that she was $200,000 in student loan debt. Since then, she’s published monthly budget videos and taken us through her grueling experience of working her tail off to get it paid off ASAP.

I’ve watched her cry from frustration, call out brands that haven’t paid her for work she’s done for them (fun fact: I think her subscribers tweeted at this brand and she finally got paid!), open up about how broke she is… I mean, this girl bared it all. I mean, she publicly shared her monthly earnings and all her expenses – so bold of her! One of her goals was to fly to Tennessee to do the debt-free scream on Dave Ramsey’s radio show once everything was paid off, and SHE MADE IT HAPPEN!

When Brandon and I first got married, I used to listen to Dave Ramsey’s podcast while making dinner and I would feel such ecstasy when someone paid off their debt and got to do the debt-free scream on air. Seriously, full body chills. So it was even more emotional for me to watch someone I “know” do this. I am so proud of her and inspired by her. Towards the end of her vlog, she shares what was key for getting herself out of debt, and if you’re someone who’s struggling with paying yours off, I HIGHLY recommend watching Aja’s entire journey. Here is the video playlist: My Financial Journey.

5. first trip of 2020-

Next week, I’m headed to Arizona for 2 weeks! In celebration of my sister getting married in April, we’ll be spending 1-on-1 time for a week, and then a bunch of her friends are flying in the week after for her bachelorette party.

I’ve been planning our itineraries, and I’m just SO excited that the trip is finally right around the corner. It’s crazy to think that this is going to be our last trip together before she becomes someone’s wife. I imagine we’ll be doing lots of yoga, hiking, eating good food, and talking for hours. I can not freakin’ wait!!
