#Grattitude – Week of Jan 24th, 2020

Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:

1. melatonin + silk eye mask-

Two things that have helped me kick jet lag this past week: melatonin (given to me by my sweet friend Paulina who remembered that I’ve been struggling with sleep) and a $10 silk sleep mask I found on Amazon (the link will take you to an article that convinced me to purchase it.)

I’ve never owned an eye mask before (minus the disposable ones I’ve used while traveling) and it’s made a notable difference in my sleep. It doesn’t feel too tight, and it stays on my face throughout the night for the most part.

2. work date with Brandon-

One of my favorite routines we’ve sorta gotten into recently is going to a coffee shop on Sundays to work together.

My coffee work dates during the week mostly involve my girlfriends (sometimes he joins in) so it’s been fun doing our own little thing on the weekends. We usually end up getting a good amount of work done and we’re both in good spirits after.

This past Sunday, we stopped by the supermarket to pick up a bottle of wine and I made pasta for dinner. It was so simple and delicious!

3. Island Art Party-

I went to my first art party last night! And OH BOY did it test my perfectionism, haha. I spent the first half of painting this picture being frustrated that it wasn’t awesome.. even though the last time I painted on a blank canvas was in grade school.

It was interesting, to say the least, to observe all the thoughts that kept coming up throughout this process. Overall, I loved spending time doing something like this with Brandon. I felt closer to him, and on our way home we talked about how the process of creation is often difficult, but how satisfying it is to hold something in our hands and say “Wow, I made this!” Reminded me of how I felt when I made my first vision board several months ago.

I want to make space to create more, even if it’s just for myself and no one else.

4. snack I’ve been enjoying-

Saltine crackers with sea salt! It’s been so long since I’ve just eaten a whole sleeve of saltines. They are perfect in their plainness.. kind of like how a bowl of piping hot white rice can be so delicious on its own. Savoring this snack helped me really appreciate the beauty of simplicity.

5. my people-

This one’s a little vague but I’ve been immensely grateful for those in my life who I can just call up and share any kind of news with – good or bad – even if I haven’t spoken to them in a while. I’m so lucky to have them scattered around the world.. and I’m SO lucky to even have a few on this island. I feel blessed every time I ask Alexa what time it is in insert part of the world here and she lets me know it’s a decent time to call up insert loved one here.

If you’re one of the people I got to connect with this week, I hope you know how much you mean to me. Thank you for your friendship.
