Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:
1. “Share Audio” function on my phone-
Brandon and I wanted to listen to a podcast together but we were doing separate things: he was washing the dishes, and I was in the bedroom at my desk.
He suggested using the Share Audio function (iPhone users, you can access this by swiping down from the upper right corner of the screen.) It allowed both of our AirPods to connect to my phone AND we each had our own volume controls!
This is so awesome because I’ve owned earphone splitters before and we both had to listen at the same volume.. that didn’t work for me because Brandon likes to listen to things at alarmingly loud volumes that my ears can’t handle.
2. podcast about the Enneagram-
My friend (and accountability partner!) Sarah recommended a podcast episode recently: Brené Brown & Chris Heuertz: A Skeptic and a Teacher on the Enneagram and Spiritual Contemplation.
Chris has a way of empathizing with each type in the most compassionate way – I love listening to him talk. (At the end of this podcast episode, Brené Brown shares a discount code for the Enneagram Institute’s test, which is my favorite one to purchase for my loved ones.)
3. prenatal yoga with Valerie-
I was recently talking to my friend Valerie, who also happens to one of my favorite yoga instructors at my previous studio (sadly, they closed down recently during quarantine 😭).
I asked Valerie if she had any recommendations for studios offering prenatal yoga, and 3 days ago she texted me that she is going to start teaching it at a studio near my house! This was incredible news to me. I’ve always appreciated Valerie’s teaching style- she’s super fit so her classes are slightly more challenging, she’s knowledgeable when it comes to the human body, she has the best smile, and the room when she teaches always smell amazing! Whatever oils/incenses she uses was juuust right.
As you can guess, I signed up for her class immediately, and when I showed up to the studio I was the only one in the class so I had her all to myself 🙂 And because we’re friends, she knew I was having back issues so she lead me through movements to help me with that, and continuously checked in to make sure I was okay.
It was a sweeeeet hour!
4. bedside phone holder-
I feel like a freakin’ queen watching *all* the journaling videos on YouTube, hands-free! I get to snuggle up on my full-body pregnancy pillow and lounge like this for HOURS. Sometimes Brandon brings me ice cream while I do this.
I highly recommend this, even if you’re not pregnant.
5. our friend, Mike-
Yesterday we went hiking with our friend Mike. I’ve met him a couple of times before because he plays volleyball with Brandon, but it wasn’t until yesterday that I got to actually spend time with him.
First of all, I only recently found out that he’s been subscribed to this newsletter so I was super honored that he knew what was going on in my life, and he often made detailed references to things I’ve mentioned in these emails! Mike was also the very first person to gift us items from our baby registry, and I finally got to tell him in person how thankful I am and how crazy it’s been to receive presents for this little person who isn’t even born yet!
Not only is Mike generous and attentive, he was basically my guardian angel during our entire hike. He had these special shoes on that allowed him to walk on the mossy rocks in the water, so every time we had to cross over rocks, he held my hand the entire way to make sure I didn’t slip. Brandon was right behind me as well in case he needed to catch my fall.
I was well taken care of 🥰.
