Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:
1. perfect timing ????????-
We were supposed to be in California this week to help our friend Sandra at Natural Products Expo West. A few days before our flight, we were all wondering how concerned we should be about the coronavirus situation.
Luckily, the decision was made for us when we found out Expo West got postponed and THANKFULLY Sandra didn’t get on her flight from Korea.
I was pretty bummed about not being able to see her (along with my brother who now lives in CA) but overall, we’re thankful that everyone is safe at home and not in quarantine at an airport somewhere.
2. Mr. Clean Magic Eraser-
After 2+ years of me babying my limited edition Away carry-on, I was finally told by a flight attendant that I had to check in my suitcase because they ran out of overhead bin space on my flight to Maui from Arizona.
I hated that I didn’t have a choice, and I just KNEW it was going to arrive all sorts of fucked up when I pick it up from baggage claim. And I was right. It was the dirtiest and most scratched up it’s ever gotten.
And while I usually unpack and wipe down my suitcase and wheels before storing it away after a trip, I didn’t want to bother with it knowing I’d be back on a flight to LA in a few days. But because this trip got canceled, I finally sat down and Clorox wiped the entire thing… and not one mark was removed.
Even though I was pretty sure we were out of Magic Erasers, I decided to check under the kitchen sink anyway. And to my surprise, there was ONE small rectangle (I must’ve cut it in half last time) I didn’t know I saved!
I went to town on my carry-on, and while it’s not 100% restored, it’s somewhere in the high 90s… woohoo! Another cool thing is that I heard Away suitcase orders now come with a Magic Eraser! My sister, who was recently gifted a carry-on for her birthday, told me about this.
3. new friends-
These wonderful people are Sammi and Spencer!
They invited us over to their beautiful (I mean BEAUTIFUL) home to have coffee on Sunday morning. After sitting around talking about some really cool stuff, Sammi asked if she could make us breakfast. Of course we happily said yes, and it was so delicious.
Man, these two are freakin awesome. We learned about their thriving coaching business, we had some real real talk about our faith, and it was all so comfortable and refreshing.
4. currently reading-
Yesterday, I wanted to read a book that would help me grow as someone who identifies as an Enneagram Type 2.
Based on my research, there was one book that came up more than once: Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World: Finding Intimacy with God in the Busyness of Life. At first I was reluctant.. I don’t like most Christian books because I find them cheesy or too holier-than-thou. But I know how Martha-like I can be when I’m not taking care of myself, and pouring from an empty cup.
So I made the decision to buy this book on my Kindle to see what I might learn. I’ve read about 10% of the book so far but I’m finding myself agreeing with the struggle the author describes about doing and being busy vs. sitting at His feet. Still not sure how to “sit at His feet” in a way that makes sense to me.
While reading though, I was reminded how much I miss my routine of going to my yoga classes (my membership expired in January) and how necessary it is for my well-being. I’m taking this as a sign to bring this practice back into my life.
5. going on a date-
Right after I finish this email, Brandon and I are heading to the beach to catch the sunset.
I’ve been looking forward to this all day so I’m writing about it here, even though it hasn’t happened yet. But I’ll be back to share a photo with you ????????????
(edit: we ended up staying out for ~10 minutes because it was incredibly windy. We went to get sushi, and then Spencer and Sammi invited us over to hang, so we did that! We had more great conversations over snacks and watched a movie. Awesome date night.)
