#Grattitude – Week of May 15, 2020

Here’s this week’s #Grattitudes – a list of what I’ve enjoyed, appreciated, or discovered:

1. mushroom “chips”-

I was first introduced to this by my cousin Jasmine sometime last year. Since then, I’ve been patiently waiting for it to show up at our Costco.

Then on May 2, 2020 (Jasmine’s birthday!) we went for a grocery run and saw these on sale!!

They’re crunchy. They’re salty. They have a buttery finish. Very addicting and I highly recommend. Thanks for another fantastic recommendation, Jas!

2.  our shoehorn-

Brandon’s been using a shoehorn every single day for as long as I’ve known him.

Me, I guess I like things to be more difficult than they need to be sometimes so I never used one ????????‍♀️. It only took 22 weeks into my pregnancy to finally give it a shot after experiencing back pain.

I’m happy to report that this gets me out of the door quicker and with less discomfort!

I especially appreciate it when putting on this one pair of Nikes (don’t know what they’re called), which has a snug bootie fit. No more struggle city! I am a convert now.

3. keto-friendly jambalaya-

What started out as a very uninspired but “it seems easy so let’s just try it” recipe, turned out to be our favorite meal this week! We enjoyed it so much that we both went for seconds each time we’ve eaten it so far.

The tanginess from the diced tomatoes is a nice touch I wasn’t expecting. I also added 2 chopped serrano peppers because we like things real spicy in our house. I also made my own cajun seasoning with the spices I already had at home, and in it I substituted the cayenne pepper for Thai ground chili.

Here’s the recipe I followed.

4. partner workouts-

I barely worked out in my first trimester (minus the yoga and hikes I went on with my sister in Arizona) because of the fatigue and morning sickness, but I’m definitely feeling more like myself these days. I’ve been extremely grateful for both the energy and desire to move my body recently.

What’s so awesome is that because of Brandon’s knowledge in fitness, I can fully rely on him to program workouts for us, and because he knows my body well he is able to focus on what I need to work on. I find it so sexy when he leads me in this way.

He’s been focusing on movements to help me prepare for labor. So far we’ve done modified burpees, LOTS of squats, lunges, planks, deadlifts, assisted push-ups, and yoga/stretching.

We do “partner workouts” where there is a total number of movements to be completed (for example, 200 squats) and we split them between the two of us. One of us works until he/she gets tired, before the next person picks up the load. It allows me to take my time and I love the teamwork aspect of us doing something challenging together. I feel bonded to him in a special way.

5. Brandon’s own #Grattitude emails-

I have been asking this guy to share his own list of #Grattitudes for a while now because I think he often discovers interesting things (and ways of doing things) that wouldn’t initially strike my fancy… but once he starts explaining them to me, I wish he would share it with more people!

Well my friends, guess who has finally decided to start his own newsletter?! I have no idea what he plans to share every week, but if you’re interested, click here to sign up! I just did :).
